The versatility of these jars is amazing. Some of these mason jar tops are pretty unique and creative.

1. Drinking Lid for Wide Mouth Canning Jar

This lid from Cuppow claims it can “turn a canning jar into a travel mug.”   

It is BPA-free and made from recycled plastic.

It does require you to use the metal ring to screw it onto the canning jar.

2. TUBE Cold Brew Coffee, Tea and Water Infuser Stainless Steel Mesh Filter (for wide mouth masons)

Now someone was really thinking when they came up with this.

Talk about versatility! 

With the TUBE you can make:

• cold brewed coffee
• teas (cold teas)
• and even create your own unique blends of fruit infused water.

3. Turn your Mason Jar into Pitchers

This lid from County Line Kitchen looks super cool

The fact that they’re leak proof is very intriguing to me.

Note, this is for wide mouth mason jars, not regular mouth jars.

The same company also makes leak-proof lids so you can convert your mason jars into water bottles or drink bottles. Below is a picture of their leak-proof lids for standard-mouth mason jars.

4. iLIDS Mason Jar Lid (use with Straw or without)

These Mason jar lid by iLIDS are made of hard plastic and are meant to screw onto a mason jar.

So it is made of plastic, and many people want to minimize plastic, but I guess if you’re using this it means you are using less disposable coffee cups or drink cups.

The hole allows you to use a straw, or sip directly from the opening.

Be careful because it is not leak-proof and you can’t just toss it into your bag. 

But if you’re aware of that, you can try and avoid spills. 

A positive thing about it is that it screws directly onto the jar and you don’t need to use the metal ring from the original canning lid.

5. Ball Brand – Sip and Straw Lid Kit

What is cool about this lid is that it comes with reusable straws too. 

You can sip directly from the lid, or use one of the provided reusable straws. The straw hole in this lid is quite large…like a smoothie sized straw hole.

You do have to use a metal ring to attach it to the Mason jar though…which some people don’t like because of the metal ring rusting with frequent washes.

This product is made of plastic and many of use want to get away from plastic, but if this lid kit stops you from using more disposable cups and straws, then it is an improvement.

6. Turn your Mason Jar into Spice Shakers

So far we’ve only talked about mason jars for wet contents, like beverages, but these lids are the opposite: they are for dry ingredients.

As you can see in the picture above these plastic spice shaker lids will convert your standard-mouth mason jars into spice jars!

This only includes the top shaker piece…you need to provide the mason jar and the metal lid ring.

7. Fermentation Lids for Mason Jars (really unique mason jar lids)

I know what fermented food is, and I keep reading about the benefits of fermented foods on our digestive system, but I know almost nothing about making fermented foods.

With lids like these you may be able to make fermented foods like sauerkraut or kimchi at home.

Now if I ever get the desire to make these foods, I’ll know where to go. 🙂

8. Soap Pump Top for Mason jars

Are you aiming for a zero waste bathroom or zero waste kitchen? 

Or even if you want to reduce waste then you gotta check this out.

Now instead of buying small individual plastic bottles of hand soap (or dish soap) you could buy bulk and pour it directly into a mason jar.   

I think its a cool idea and I’d like to hear if it has worked for anyone out there.

9. Silicone Jar Jacket Protective Sleeve

These are such a cool idea to help solve a very real problem: glass breaks. 

You can wrap your mason jar in these plastic-free silicone sleeves to help protect against smashing and cracking.

10. Mason Jar Toothbrush Holder

You can get these mason jar toothbrush holder lids in “standard” size for regular sized mason jars, and you can get ones to fit wide-mouth mason jars.   And if you want to add a clean, almost vintage look to your bathroom this will do the trick.

11. Turn your Mason Jar into a Flower Vase

They call these lids “frog lids.” 

I have no idea why, but I bet someone long ago used these mesh style lids to allow trapped froggies to breath inside the jar.

Regardless, despite the weird name these lids allow you to do some cool crafting with your mason jar.  You can make it into a flower vase, or to store your dry paint brushes.

(A lady at my local arts store told me not to store wet paint brushes upright though…so only store dry brushes vertically.)

12. Turn your Mason Jar into a Sewing Caddy

There are sure some creative, innovative people out there.

And this mason jar sewing caddy product proves it.

Now I’m not much of a sewer – I’m more a fabric glue kind of person – but if I ever take up that skill I’ll check this product  out a little closer.

13. Transform your Mason Jar into a Juicer

This unique stainless steel “juicer” lid fits a wide-mouth mason jar. Put it on the mouth of your jar, screw on your lid (you have to provide the lid), and then you’ve got yourself a little juice.

Just imagine squeezing some fresh oranges onto this to make tasty, homemade orange juice. Yum.

It is top-rack dishwasher safe too.
